Blue Mountains Book Club

Our First Meeting!!
The Blue Mountains Book Club

Last night was the first meeting of my new book club. Sadly only one lady was able to make it on the short notice, but we had a fun night!

I had set the place up with comfy chairs and a lovely set out table ready for the food to come out, which was; an avocado and spinach salad with a Dijon and mayonnaise dressing, smoked salmon quiches, ham and chive quiches and a mixed cheese plate with fruit and crisps.

Waiting for the first guest to arrive my nerves were building. I was worried that no one would come, and if they did, I was worried I would run out of conversation.

Then Annette arrived, a lovely lady from a neighbouring suburb who was easy to chat to and very entertaining.

We had a lovely time chatting about books and film. Annette talking about her love for biographies and me talking about my love for historical fiction. Annette with a cup of tea and me with a glass of Chardonnay.

Thanks to the lack of numbers, when it came to choose book for the next month it was quite easy. Annette has the entire Charles Dickens collection and I have never read Dickens so I left the decision up to her.

The first book that the book club will be reading is The Old Curiosity Shop by Charles Dickens.
